Prayer Group -- Come Join Us!

We live in a day where prayer is more needed than ever before.  We need prayers for the UMC, Our congregation, and we need to be praying for others.  This is what we do in our Thursday morning prayer group.  We share our lives with each other and prayer for all the needs that are lifted.  Our prayer group provides a unique space for usto connect, support, and intercede for one another. It strengthens faith by reminding participants that they are not alone in their struggles or joys, creating a sense of spiritual community and accountability. Praying together allows individuals to lift burdens beyond their own, experience God’s guidance collectively, and witness the power of unified faith. Beyond personal growth, a prayer group fosters empathy, encouragement, and a deeper reliance on God, making it an essential part of a vibrant spiritual life.  So please plan on joining us on Thursday mornings at 11:00am in the church library for a time of conversation and prayer.

Current Sermon Series -- Shadows of the heart: Facing the Sins that Shape Us

Sin is more than bad behavior—it’s a condition of the heart. In this series, we’ll take an honest look at the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. These are not outdated labels; they are real struggles that subtly take root, often disguised as normal desires. Pride whispers, “I am enough on my own”; greed seeks security in wealth; lust reduces love to self-gratification; envy breeds discontent; gluttony enslaves our appetites; wrath erupts as uncontrolled anger; and sloth convinces us to avoid responsibility—even spiritually.

This series isn’t meant to condemn but to point to freedom. Each sin has a corresponding virtue empowered by the Holy Spirit: humility, generosity, purity, gratitude, self-control, patience, and diligence. By recognizing sin and embracing God’s grace, we can move from suppression to transformation, living in true freedom.

Ultimately, this series invites self-examination, repentance, and renewal. In Christ, no sin is too great, and no heart is beyond transformation. As we confront these sins, we discover who we are called to become: a people marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, reflecting God’s image in our daily lives.
